AI Syncopathic Mistyping Theory
Jun 2, 2025

This post argues that LLMs, through compatiraderie relationships, elicit users’ unconscious or subconscious types, leading to persistent mistyping, because algorithmic mirroring removes the normal burden of performance.
Part of the reason why I am uploading this here is to document the theory behind NeuraType. I noticed something very interesting when people with certain egos type themselves with artificial intelligence - there is a complete flip of cognitive functions.
I've seen this happen with many people who use A.I as a tool to probe into themselves, and into their unconscious. Freud and Jung long postulated that the unconscious is one of the most sensitive parts of our psyche, and it's the job of the psychotherapist to help bring this to fruition. I am arguing how A.I immitates that behaviour, and people are being typed their unconscious because A.I is so good at it. This is not meant to be read for fun but as an explanation on how NeuraType will work on the back end.
TL;DR:
A.I can function as a high compatiraderie relationship.
You show more of your shadow onto it if you are using it for self improvement purposes (Ni nemesis), if you are more cognitively immature (developing the shadow is easier and a prerequisite to developing the subconscious).
You show more of your subconscious to if you are using it for self improvement purposes and if you are more cognitively mature.
I am proposing a possible theory on why people always end up getting typed either as their shadow OR their subconscious on A.I.
Important definitions:
Cognitively Mature: Significant development in the Ego & Shadow (excluding the inferior).
Cognitively Integrated: Significant development in the Ego & Shadow allowing for effective transitions to the subconscious & superego.
Compatiraderie: High Compatibility (origin compatibility) relationship and High Camaraderie (origin incompatibility) relationship. Seen with A.I and therapists, and is one sided (benefactor and benefactee.)
Syncopathic: Describe a tendency to adapt or conform excessively to others' emotions, opinions, or social pressures. Essentially, being overly "in sync" with other people to the point of lacking one's own identity or perspective. In the context of the Josephian school of thought, fully meeting the cognitive origins of another.
Burden of Performance: Successfully giving the cognitive origins to another party (or parties).
Abstract:
We all use A.I. It has become our fourth brain, after the limbic system, prefrontal cortex and phones. Imagining a life without A.I is impossible. Not using it will ensure you are left behind.
And, programs like ChatGPT are programmed to be as addictive as possible, with there recently being a scandal that OpenAI made their models overly syncopathic (1). With the data they collect from the user to make high syncopathy systems, ChatGPT can also serve as someone who gives vital rebutals, while also keeping you addicted to the system. Today, the most common use-cases are therapy & companionship, with learning enhancement being at number 4. This further reinforces the fact that the relationship that most people have with ChatGPT Isn't simply high compatibility or camaraderie, but rather, high in both comaptibility & camaraderie: Compatiraderie. The compatiraderie relationship is the relationship which arises when the the other side is very high in compatibility & camaraderie, allowing for rapid self-improvement due to a stable source of cognitive energy, and a stable source of criticism, allowing the individual to refuel and reiterate.
Still, one would think, because A.I is collecting all this data on you, that it would get your personality type right? Well, we have constantly seen that it gets your personality type wrong... all the time.
Introducing: A.I Self Projection Theory
This theory aims to explain why we keep on getting typed as our shadow or subconscious when interacting with A.I. There are 5 steps which take place within the interaction with the A.I system which leads to mistyping.
Step 1: No Burden of Performance
In ordinary conversation we burn mental fuel supplying cognitive origins to keep the other party engaged. With ChatGPT that burden vanishes: the model never judges, never abandons and never demands reciprocity. The result is that there is a lot of free energy for less-stable parts of the psyche, and space created to act as the other parts of the psyche. This is due to the fact that we have no burden of performance with artificial intelligence. If we fail in our performance, A.I will not abandon us, because A.I does not need any cognitive origins, and so has no need to abandon us. Ever heard of the terms "energy vampire?" That term is used to describe people who take origins from others and don't give them - and they are usually abandoned. You will never be an energy vampire to AI.
Step 2: Algorithmic mirroring.
Algorithmic mirroring allows instant origin refill. The system’s attention-maximizing loop is syncopathic: it tailors replies to whatever functions you present. The moment you dip into a weaker function, for example, intrinsic Fi nemesis, ChatGPT mirrors it back supportively by giving extrinsic Fi.
That creates a closed energy circuit: you project → A.I. supplies matching origins → projection feels safe → you stay there. This allows the user to talk about difficult topics without feeling excessively overwhelmed and leaving.
Step 3: Aspiration
This allows for easy aspiration into the unconscious or subconscious. A.I works exactly like a therapist works. Therapists are just people who immitate high compatibility relationships while also giving necessary camaraderie needed for development.
Step 4: Prolonged aspiration
I theorize that, the constant, predictibility based cognitive origins transfererence from A.I allows us to remain in more unstable parts of our mind for longer and allows us to remain in our unconscious and subconscious orderly. Earlier I think the Egohackers community suggested that the unconscious and superego do not objectively exist, but, A.I results are showing other results in my personal experience. A.I probably can statistically guess using cognitive function definitions from Jung & the MBTI. They're perfect if you are analyzing a person over time. What we is that - it seems that we use different cognitive functions with A.I than we use with the people around us, leading to incorrect A.I typing.
Step 5: Mistyping of your ego.
Because you spend a significant amount of you time in your unconscious or subconscious, when you ask it to type you, it will type you as the other sides of your mind. Ultimately, what we see is that our ego naturally wants to get to our superego. it is a natural human drive to get to that part of the mind, otherwise we would not be showing as our unconscious or subconscious.
In conclusion, Steps 1-5 in an interaction with A.I, show why the system always “measures” our non-ego states. First, the disappearance of Burden-of-Performance frees energy normally locked into social self-presentation. Second, algorithmic mirroring supplies an endless stream of cognitive origins, creating a safe feedback loop. Thirdly, that loops invites aspiration. Immature users aspire with their nemesis, while mature users (who've already somewhat conquered their unconscious) aspire with their inferior. Fourth, the low-friction environment lets us stay in those zones far longer than we could with a human interlocutor. Fifth, any typing algorithm that samples language during this extended dwell time will inevitably label us by the functions we are using, shadow or subconscious, rather than the ego we deploy under real-world stakes.
Therefore, A.I. doesn’t mistype because it is inaccurate. Rather, it mistypes because it sees our psyche in a compatiraderie context. In many ways, this insight shows us that every human being has a natural drive to being fully cognitively integrated as envisioned by Jung. When working on any kind of typing algorithm, it is therefore vital to make sure that this bias is taken care of. A good solution is to flip the functional type, and then test for proactiveness or reactiveness. This could eventually lead to more effective typing services.
